‹The world is full of perspectives. It is up to you, to find your own and show it back to the world.›

Monika

Of the many cities I have visited, Chicago is my absolute favorite. Changing every time I come to visit – the light, the shadows, the mood, the weather and the visitors. The majestic architecture towering over Chicago river, leaves me breathless and in awe of such creative beauty and human achievements.

When it comes to photographing urban landscapes and tall buildings, it is a real challenge to take pictures, that differ from other tourists› photos. In order to show your unique view of the cityscape, you have to find your own perspective.

Try walking around, to see how buildings, their outline, their leading lines and their shapes change in relation to your position and the other buildings around them. Taking a few steps aside, may open up an unexpected view nobody else can see, but you.

It takes patience, to find the right angle, the right light or the right moment. But isn’t that the beauty of photography? Slowing down and really seeing and observing your subject. Then, finally feeling the excitement, when things unexpectedly aline, to present to you the perfect perspective.

Sometimes, climbing up on a wall or crouching down low, looking up or turning around, will open up surprising views. Look for reflections and shadows in unexpected places, and train your eyes to see what else you can find.

Be patient. Experiment. Make it a challenge, to wait for the right moment.

Always stay curious.
